That means thrift stores might become your new best friend in the next 30 days 😅 If you aren’t sure where to start, keep reading for easy ways to participate in Secondhand September this year!
~Hit up your favorite thrift stores
Avoid the mall this month and opt for your favorite thrift stores instead. The whole point of the Secondhand September challenge is to favor used items over new. You can choose to focus on thrifting clothing, home goods, or across the board if you like. Make a point to go to every one of your favorite thrifting spots in September!
~Make (and share) a list of your favorite secondhand stores with others!
It is one thing to have your personal favorite secondhand spots… Why not share them with friends and family too?! There’s a reason they are your favorites, so get someone else on board with eco-friendly living by giving them your secret spots. They will be more likely to keep thrifting if they have a good experience and enjoy the shops you pick out. 😍 Better yet, go thrifting with others all Secondhand September!
~Wear your favorite thrifted pieces
Don’t just shop at secondhand stores; make sure you actually wear the pieces too! In honor of this month, try to style at least one secondhand clothing item every day. If you think that is too easy, try for a full month of secondhand outfits. I totally think you can rock those unique finds all month long!
~Challenge yourself to not buy anything new this month!
For those who want to go all in this September, set the goal of not buying anything new this whole month (other than groceries of course!). Just like Plastic Free July can be eye-opening, you might surprise yourself with your ability to reuse and buy used instead.

I am going to try this! Not sure how successful I will be, but trying is better than not trying at all. I love thrift stores, so this is a fun excuse to shop there instead.
