4 Extra Ways to Be Green This St. Patrick’s Day!

Hey earth muffins! I can’t believe that March is already here – and St. Patty’s Day is just around the corner too! This holiday is all about “green”… Which is perfect for us environmentalists! With a holiday that celebrates such an eco-friendly color, it is time to be a wee bit more sustainable this St. Patrick’s Day… Here are 4 easy ways to be green!

1. Use reusables for all your drinking needs!

While not everyone partakes in the holiday festivities, St. Patrick’s Day weekend is notorious for lots of parties and drinking. If you find yourself at any type of event, avoid the single-use red Solo cups. Bring your own reusable cup OR opt for drinks in glass bottles that can be recycled at the end of the night. Such a great (and easy) way to have a zero waste St. Patrick’s Day!

2. Shop your closet for green

I’m not sure if people actually partake in the tradition of pinching people who aren’t wearing green anymore… But, it is still fun to wear green on St. Patty’s Day. Before you buy a shirt that you can only wear one day of the year, shop your closet for anything green. Using what you already have is always the most sustainable option! 😊

3. Opt for a meatless dinner

Corned beef and cabbage seems to be a popular dinner for St. Patrick’s Day. However, there are plenty of Irish dishes that don’t contain meat! This is one of the easy ways to be green this March, as reducing your meat consumption is a great way to be more sustainable.

4. Avoid gold coins and choose something long lasting instead!

Being eco-friendly is all about making swaps from something not so great for the planet to a better alternative. Instead of indulging in golden coins with single-use packaging, choose a more long lasting gift. Some suggestions are a real shamrock plant or a thrifted leprechaun decoration. The options are endless!
