Hey earth muffins! Reading is one of my favorite pastimes; many people agree with me too! Curling up with a good book is such a great way to settle down after a long day at work or to enjoy some much needed self-care time without turning on the TV. As an eco-friendly queen, it is important to choose secondhand reads to reduce your impact on the planet. Keep reading for a list of the best places to buy used books!
The Top Places to Find Used Books Near You:
First up, do a quick Google search to see when your local library puts on a used book sale! Libraries often get a ton of book donations, which means they can sell some pretty great reads at these sales. Plus, if you’re a bookworm, you’ll be happy to know that the proceeds from these sales often support the library in your community. Such a great way to get some new used books!
Another favorite of mine are local bookshops. Not only are you supporting a small business, but you can typically find some incredible reads in smaller stores. Skip Barnes & Noble and opt for a book store in your own town.
Don’t forget to check out thrift stores and antique stores in your area. You’d be surprised at how awesome these are as a place to buy used books. You might even be able to find some vintage or rare finds as well! 📖 The smell of a bookshelf filled with old books is something I’ll never get sick of.
If you are looking to save some money, check out the Little Free Libraries in your community. Without spending a dime (but possibly leaving an already-read book behind) you can find a new book you wouldn’t have thought to read!
The Best Places to Find Used Books Online:
There are also many options to buy used books online. Thriftbooks is a tried and true for me, as you can even find textbooks on there. You only have to spend $25 to get free shipping and get to acquire points towards free books as you shop on the site over time. Extra perks for sure!
While not the most sustainable option by supporting a gigantic corporation, you can find plenty of secondhand books on Amazon. When searching for a book you want to read, you can select the “used” option – the lower the quality, the cheaper the price. Using this site is helpful for finding literally any book you could ever want because the Amazon network is so vast.
There you have it fellow bookworms – all of the best places to purchase used books. 😊 Regardless of where you live there will be plenty of local spots to book shop: library sales, thrift stores, even Little Free Libraries! If you can’t find what you are looking for then don’t hesitate to shop online too. What book(s) are you currently reading? Comment below and let me know your favorite place to purchase used books!
