Commutes to Coffee: Going Green With Your Daily Work Habits

It has always been important to you to respect the environment and do everything you can to reduce your impact on the planet. One of the things you do everyday is go about your normal work routine, whether you’re commuting into the office or heading to your local cafe for your morning coffee. When it comes to living an eco-friendly life, there are a number of ways in which you can tweak your everyday work habits so that you can go greener and protect the environment. Consider some of the following ideas and get started right away!

Reconsider Your Usual Mode of Transport

When you head to work each morning, you may want to think twice about hopping in your car or even taking the bus. Everyday commuters contribute to greenhouse gases, so every small change will help you to do your part for the world around you. You may want to look into high quality electric bikes to help you get from A to B in the mornings. Not only will you get to work right on time and miss the rush hour traffic, but you’ll do so with ease without even breaking a sweat! Take some time to consider your usual mode of transport and you will soon feel a sense of relief with your new morning routine.

Opt for Reusable Cups and Bottles

Everyone loves their morning cup of coffee on their way to work; it gives you  the much-needed caffeine boost you deserve and it’s your little taste of luxury before you start a busy day. However, paper cups with plastic lids are one of the biggest pollutants of our environment. If you can take a reusable cup on your commute to work, this will save a tonne of waste each year. You may also want to take a reusable water bottle to work and refill it as the day goes by; this will also cut down on the use of plastic cups and plastic water bottles, so that you are drastically reducing your impact on the environment and the planet.

Go Paperless

If you’re the type of person who prints out their emails or meeting agendas, then now might be the right time to reconsider your habits. Going paperless in the office or in any type of work you do, could be the solution to going green. There are clearly a whole host of advantages that go hand in hand with going paperless at work, so why not try this one for yourself?

As you can see, there are a number of small and simple tweaks you can make to your normal working routine, so why not give them a try sooner rather than later? Whether you’re swapping your paper coffee cup for a reusable one, or you’re riding your bike into work instead of hopping in your car, there are so many positive changes you can make to your work habits in order to protect the planet.

  1. Excellent suggestions! I started using a reusable water bottle and find that I don’t have to do as many loads of dishes now. It’s amazing what a small switch can do!
