Hey earth muffins! If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen a recent haul I did from the Tera app. In this haul was an adorable little tube of eyeshadow from RMS Beauty…. I’ve had plenty of time to test this product out and wanted to share my thoughts with you all today. Keep reading for a full review of the RMS Beauty eyelights cream eyeshadow (affiliate link)!
What I LOVE About RMS Beauty Eyelights
The first thing I love about this product is that it is a better sustainable alternative to other eyeshadows on the market. While RMS Beauty doesn’t market itself as an “eco-friendly” brand, they do actually emphasize doing better for the planet. These eyeshadows are packaged in little aluminum tubes – just like paint! 🎨 Each shadow comes with a metal tube key to squeeze out every bit of product. There are even instructions right in the product listing on how to recycle the packaging when the product is gone! The company prides itself in using skin-loving, clean ingredients which is always a positive thing in makeup to me.
I think this eyeshadow also works really well. The color I purchased is Halo, which is a gorgeous rich pinky brown… It looks fabulous with my blue eyes! The eyeshadow has great pigment and is truly buildable for whatever look you are going for (see the swatch image below). I personally like that it is a cream eyeshadow (unlike the loose Zerra & Co shadow I also love); it is easy and quick to apply/blend into your eyelids without needing a brush.
What Could Be Improved
Like with every review on Life of an Earth Muffin, I have to mention price. This 0.28 fl oz tube costs $26… Might sound like highway robbery to some, but I feel like it is competitive with other high-end eyeshadows out there. A little goes a long way with the pigment, so the tube will last you quite a long time too. While it is definitely on the higher price point compared to drug store eyeshadow products, just think about the benefit of using clean makeup from a brand that actually cares about the planet!
Another thing to note is that the eyeshadow dries really fast. Once you put a bit on your finger, I would blend it into your eyelid right away. It is definitely harder to blend/move around once it dries – great for wearability and staying put all day, but not great if you haven’t blended it in yet. 🙃
The last tiny thing I wanted to mention is the fact that if you rebuy this eyeshadow you will get another metal tube key. This seems like a waste of metal to me, just like I mentioned with Davids toothpaste. Seems like you should be able to add a key to your order if you want one and then just reuse it as you go… Oh well! If you end up with numerous keys, use them for other products so it doesn’t go to waste.
Overall, I am a huge fan of this eyeshadow. It has been nice to be able to alternate between this and my Zerra & Co shadow – so much versatility in my makeup collection now! While the brand isn’t advertised as “sustainable”, it is a great clean beauty option for anyone looking to support a makeup company with eco-friendly values. Have you tried anything from RMS Beauty? Let me know in the comments!
Love,
Jenna ♥
