Hey earth muffins! When I was a kid, I LOVED any sort of DIY kit. Whether it was a do-it-yourself science experiment or cupcake set, I was all over it. Did you know there are all-natural craft kits on the market?? Earthy Good was kind enough to send me their lip balm kit a few months ago. I’ve given it a try and am ready to share my thoughts with you all; keep reading for a full review of the Earthy Good lip balm kit!
What I Love About This DIY Kit
The first thing I love about this lip balm kit is that it is 100% natural. Ever since I started my eco journey, I’ve been opting for beauty products that are clean and made without any parabens or other yucky stuff. This kit is made with clean ingredients that are labeled clearly. Almost all of them are organic too!
While this product is not necessarily marketed as a “sustainable” kit, it does have eco-friendly factors to it. The kit is mailed in a box that is exactly the size of the kit… And the packing paper actually turns into wildflowers if you plant it! Each ingredient is in a metal tin or glass vial; once you use up the kit, you can reuse these to hold other beauty products or recycle them curbside.
In addition, this lip balm is easy to make. (Check out my Instagram reel showing all the steps if you didn’t see it already!) Just melt the ingredients in the beaker, add whatever scent of essential oil you want, pour into tube, and pop in the fridge. It really is that simple! Because you can’t mess this craft project up, it is also super fun to do by yourself or with others.
The Earthy Good lip balm also works great once it is made! The essential oils give it a lovely scent, and it sets up well without being too soft or hard. I keep one at home and one at the office to keep my lips moisturized all day.
Lastly, the price is reasonable for what it is. You can buy it for $25 on Amazon; I feel like the craft kits I remember doing as a kid were around this price…. So for an all-natural beauty kit this makes it totally worth it to me!
What Could Be Improved
This craft kit allows you to make 8 tubes of lip balm. This is great as you can make a couple for yourself but also give some to family/friends too. However, the beaker used to melt everything down can only be used to make two lip balms at a time. Not the biggest deal – just use a bigger beaker or microwaveable bowl if you really want to make 8 all at once. For those making the lip balms just for themselves, the two lip balms at a time can be better for the planet as you can use up what you have before making a new batch.
The last small thing I’d change about this kit is that I wish the kit came with more essential oil. It’s a positive that the kit comes with 3 different options; but, I almost wish you could pick one scent when purchasing so that you can make more lip balms with the scent you want. I totally understand that some people may prefer more options, but this is something to think about.
It was so fun to try out a craft kit again after so many years… And I love that this one creates high-quality, all-natural lip balm once you are done! If you want to test out a kit by Earthy Good, I’d definitely recommend you give them a try (affiliate link). Have you tried a DIY kit recently? Comment below and let me know your thoughts!

Ooh what a great kit! My husband and I have started making lip balms for me (since the one I loved was discontinued) and bought a bunch of materials in bulk. It’s great that there are kits like this to make the process easier!
