How to Thrift Your Prom Dress:

Tip #1 – Start early! Secondhand shopping is unique because there is a little bit of everything out year round. While some stores save certain items to put out at different times of the year, you will most likely be able to find all sorts of fancy dresses regardless of when you shop. This can be helpful to keep an eye on prom dresses months before the big night. In addition, it is always better to start early with your shopping and give yourself plenty of time to find the perfect dress.

Tip #2 – Take advantage of sale days! One of the top thrift shopping tips is to always shop on sale days. A lot of thrift stores have discounted weekly tags or special sale days where clothing is 50% off (typically on holidays). Use this to your advantage! While you will already be spending much less on the dress by purchasing it secondhand, it doesn’t hurt to save even more money.

Tip #3 – Try on the dress if you can! If your local secondhand stores has fitting rooms, you better use them! Unlike department stores, sizes don’t have as much weight at thrift stores since they have been worn already. Plus, all dresses fit differently which makes it important to give it a try before you purchase.
