Eco-Friendly Easter Gifts: What to Put in Your Baskets!

Hey earth muffins! It is crazy to think that Easter is only ten days away. Lent has gone by so fast! I hope everyone is looking forward to spending time with family and friends to celebrate the holiday; I know I definitely am. Most people make some sort of Easter basket… Which can totally be sustainable! 🌎 ❤️Here are my top suggestions for eco-friendly Easter gifts to give this year!

Go with secondhand baskets.

Most of the “Easter” baskets at the store are flimsy and cheaply made these days. Instead, check out the options at your local thrift stores to find baskets of all shapes and colors. You can always find a ton of basket choices secondhand, which makes it easy to avoid those crappy ones elsewhere.

Choose local chocolates and desserts.

It always blows my mind how much candy is themed for each holiday. The aisles devoted to all the choices is overwhelming! Instead of buying candy wrapped in plastic bags (and even individual plastic wrappers too), opt for supporting local candy stores and bakeries. There is a local shop near me that makes their own candies and even chocolate Easter bunnies! Local handmade goodies are always better (in both taste and quality) than the stuff at the stores.

Bring in spring with some flowers! 🌷

The spring weather has been amazing these past few days, which means flowers are going to be popping up soon! To add a bit of nature to your Easter baskets, add in some tulip bulbs or local plants that can be planted in the backyard for a wonderful addition to the landscaping. If you don’t think this would make a good eco-friendly Easter gift for a particular person, think about getting a bouquet of some felt flowers instead!

Add in some soy candles.

My mom would always throw in some random goodies to my Easter basket growing up… And I always loved a random surprise or two! I highly suggest getting some spring scented soy candles to include as an Easter gift. I burn candles in my house often, and I love changing out the scents depending on the season. It sets quite the mood/vibe!

Final Thoughts

Never fear – it is totally possible to have a zero waste Easter. 🐰 And that includes Easter baskets as well! There are plenty of eco-friendly Easter gifts to choose from – just pick local, seasonal, and handmade goodies over the cheap crap that lines the holiday aisles of stores. I personally love to gift chocolates from local sweet shops, spring flowers, and even some soy candles. What is your favorite thing to gift on Easter? Comment below and let me know what you will be doing to celebrate the holiday!

Love,
Jenna ♥

  1. The idea of flowers is a wonderful suggestion! I still have my same Easter basket from when I was a kid. It is amazing how well those things can hold up when you choose something that is a little sturdier.
