CleanO2 Soap Review: A Revolutionary Carbon Capture Product

Hey earth muffins! Looking for an easy way to cut waste in the bathroom? Simple – start using bar soap instead of body wash! I talk a lot about shampoo bars on this blog, but I thought it would be fun to review the latest soap I’ve been trying out. This was kindly sent over to me by CleanO2… And I really love it (but let’s not spoil the rest of this post!). Here are my thoughts on the revolutionary CleanO2 soaps.

A CleanO2 bar soap - soap made with carbon captured

What I Love About CleanO2

For starters, this soap is made using an awesome carbon capture process. The founders of the company created the CarbinX, which captures carbon dioxide emissions from building heating systems. The result of this process is non-toxic pearl ash/potassium carbonate… Which is then upcycled into their soaps! I love that a bar of soap can be a part of this circular economy. A huge win for sustainability and the planet.

On top of the soap being made from a low waste process, the company’s values of sustainability also shine with their packaging. The soaps are in recyclable boxes that fit the bars exactly; even the box that it was shipped in was small and recyclable.

This soap is also an amazing body bar! A lot of eco-friendly (or handmade) bars lack the ability to lather… But these bars create so many sudsy lathers. The pearl ash apparently aids in this, which is another great benefit to the captured carbon dioxide in these bars.

On top of working great, these bars smell amazing too. Renewable Rose, “Enviro Mint”, and Eco Aloe were the bars I was sent… And they all smell super good! I also enjoy that the names of the scents all reference the sustainability values of the company – another great touch by CleanO2!

What Could Be Improved

Like any review, I like to mention the price when it comes to sustainable products. A 130 gram bar (about 4.6 ounces) will cost you $7. Some might say this is a lot compared to other bar soaps on the market… But I’ve personally spent more than this on local, handmade soaps in my area. It definitely depends if you are willing to spend this much, but you can’t go wrong with the carbon capture aspect of these bars!

Lastly, I wanted to mention the size of the bar itself. The soap container I have in my shower is smaller, so I personally like smaller bars of soap so that my shampoo bar fits as well. These bars a large, but there is an easy way around this – cut it into smaller pieces! I heat the soap in the microwave for 20-30 seconds and then easily slice it into 4 chunks. This makes it more manageable in the shower as well. Totally not a big deal, just thought I would mention it!

Overall, this is one of my favorite soaps I’ve tried recently. While I love buying local, handmade soap, I’m typically disappointed by the lack of lather. I will definitely be using this soap for a long time… And I recommend you all give CleanO2 a try too! What soap are you currently using? Comment below and let me know if you’ve heard of this carbon capture product!

Love,
