Ethique Bliss Bar Review – A Great Zero Waste Face Wash!

Hey earth muffins! If you’re on an eco journey, one of the easiest swaps to make is to opt for zero waste bar products over those in plastic bottles. I’ve reviewed tons of shampoo and conditioner bars over the years… And now I can share about the very first face cleanser I’ve tried out! I have sensitive skin that is prone to breaking out with my cycle, so I’ve never thought I should change my face wash. But, a couple months ago I decided to give it a whirl. Here’s my Ethique Bliss Bar review in all of its glory!

What I Love About the Bliss Bar

Like I mentioned in my last Ethique review, I know that this brand cares about Mother Earth and reducing its impact on the planet. The products are low waste, the packaging is either fully compostable or recyclable, and the company sticks to its sustainability values. A win-win for everyone involved!

The Bliss Bar works too! It is advertised as being a gentle cleanser to remove dirt/oils and makeup… And it does exactly that. My sensitive skin has been the same (and honestly even better than usual) since switching to this product… And it has less ingredients too! In addition, it doesn’t dry out my skin either.

I personally like when bar products lather, and this one does just that. You only need to rub it in your hands a few times to get a really great lather going. I was worried this wouldn’t be the case due to the creamy ingredients; glad it lathers like any other face wash would!

My Ethique Bliss Bar review wouldn’t be complete without talking about cost. The full bar (which is actually a box with two bars) is $17 – definitely comparable to many face washes on the market. Honestly, it is quite affordable in terms of skin care! The website says it will last 120 uses, but I’ve found that it will last much longer than that. Definitely a pro that it isn’t watered down like cleansers in plastic packaging.

What Could Be Improved

For those who enjoy scents, this face wash isn’t for you. One of the main ingredients is coconut butter, so it has a very mild smell of that. Overall though, it could pass as being unscented if you weren’t searching for a scent. I personally would rather my face wash be free from any unnecessary scents/ingredients, but if you are looking for a face cleanser that does have a smell then I suggest trying something else.

Like with any bar product, it is essential that you keep it dry after use to prevent water from washing away extra product. I’ve found that if you don’t keep it tucked away from water it can get a little slimy in the shower… An easy fix if you have a soap dish (I love my Ethique one – affiliate link), but something to consider if you have no space in your shower to keep the bar dry.

Overall, I am SO happy that I swapped my face wash for the Bliss Bar! Ethique is one of my tried and true sustainable brands, so I know that I am making less of an impact on the planet by using this product. In addition, it really does work! My skin has been feeling great ever since I made the swap. Have you swapped to a zero waste face wash yet??

Love,
