Rothy’s Loafers Review – How to Add a Bit of Sustainability to Your Shoe Collection!

Hey earth muffins! If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that a month or so ago I started a new job. With this position I was required to head back into the office after a year of remote work… Which left me realizing that I had absolutely no shoes to wear! 😬 I wanted to stick with my sustainability morals; so, I ended up purchasing a pair of loafers from the brand Rothy’s. This company has been on my radar, and I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try out a pair of their shoes. Here is my Rothy’s loafers review – let’s jump right into it!

What I LOVE About My Rothy’s Loafers

First off, a huge plus is that this brand is extremely sustainable! They create the shoe material from recycled plastic water bottles. The foam in the insoles is algae-based – which is a renewable resource. The shoes are made in a process that minimizes waste. AND the brand is starting a recycling program this year to reduce their shoes from going to the landfill. It is quite impressive all the things Rothy’s is doing to stay true to its sustainablility values! Even when they ship your shoes, the box is perfectly sized to fit your pair without having any extra packaging or padding. I love to see brands that care so much!

The Rothy’s loafers are also super comfortable! I was a bit concerned when I ordered them (as a material made from plastic water bottles doesn’t sound too comfy). But, they are honestly my favorite work shoes now! The material is sleek and smooth to the touch; it feels more like a denim than it does plastic. Another “pro” to add to this Rothy’s loafers review is that they look really professional. I have seen plenty of other sustainable shoes that don’t really fit in with typical work shoes. But these definitely do! They are classic and timeless (especially in the Solid Black I got). There are a bunch of colors/patterns too, so I might have to buy a couple more…

More Things I Like

Once I got the loafers, I noticed that there is a slight grippy part on the heel of the shoe. I feel like many flats, heels, or loafers give women blisters (at least I’ve experienced that in the past). This grippy thing is amazing! It helps my shoes stay in place, and I haven’t even had the start of a blister yet. So awesome since I wear these all the time.

Another thing I love about Rothy’s loafers is that they are easily washable. The company made the shoes this way on purpose to increase their life-span and add even more sustainability. Especially when you wear them often, it is inevitable to get your shoes dirty. These are so easy to pop in the wash and clean! Even the insoles come right out to ensure the whole loafer gets washed. I love that this will keep my shoes in “like new” condition for longer!

What I Dislike About My Rothy’s Loafers

This Rothy’s loafers review would not be complete without mentioning the price. A pair will cost you $165 with free shipping. In terms of work shoes, these are a bit towards the higher end. But, I’ve definitely seen shoes in a similar price range that are no where near as eco-friendly. And of course I’ve seen shoes that are even more expensive! I used to buy my work flats for under $50 at places like Kohl’s, so it was a big jump for me… I don’t regret it at all – the quality and sustainability of the loafers are definitely worth the price! 🎉

The last thing I wanted to mention is that Rothy includes a “signature blue halo” on all their shoes. This basically means there is a small blue line around your heel. This is kinda annoying because it doesn’t really match the rest of the shoe, but I understand that they use it as a symbol of their product. And this actually does work – in college I was able to notice that a lady was wearing Rothy flats by the halo on her shoe! While it doesn’t bother me too much I still wanted to mention this in my review.

Final Thoughts!

Overall, I give these shoes a 10/10. With a higher price point, it can be harder to press the “Buy Now” button; but, I promise you won’t regret it! The company really does try hard to protect the planet and their shoes are comfortable and classic without harming Mother Earth. 🌎 ❤️ With a ton of different colors and patterns, it is a no-brainer that you should buy a pair if you need new shoes for work! Have you ever tried any Rothy’s shoes? Comment below and let me know what pair I should buy next!

Love,
Jenna ♥
