Hey earth muffins! Back in November I wrote a Rothy’s Loafers review, sharing my opinions on shoes I purchased for work. At the same time I ordered from Rothy’s, I also decided to order some flats from Allbirds as well. I’d seen a ton of advertisements about Allbirds’ sustainable running shoes, but they also have other types of shoes as well. Just in case I didn’t end up liking my Rothy’s shoes (which definitely was not the case!), I wanted to have another option to wear to the office. Now that I’ve worn them throughout the past few months, here is my Allbirds Flats review!
What I Love About my Allbird Flats
First of all, I love that this company is truly sustainable. The shoes themselves are made from eucalyptus tree fiber, which is not a synthetic material. Most shoes are made from plastic synthetics which obviously isn’t great for the planet. The company is built off of good sustainability practices – they even have a 7 topic “sustainability” section on their website! You can see their attention to being eco-friendly when you receive your shoes in the mail. The box is perfectly sized for your pair of shoes and everything that is used as packaging can be recycled!
I purchased the Tree Breezers flats to wear to work… And they are perfect for that! I got them in Jet Black so they are extremely versatile and “classic”. My Rothy shoes are in black as well, so I probably will end up buying another color at some point… Sometimes I feel like wearing navy or gray shoes! 😅 In terms of comfort, these shoes are also really comfortable. They don’t have arch support, but that is just the nature of it being a flat. I think they are a perfect shoe for work!
Another thing to mention in this Allbirds flats review is that the fabric is almost a knitted texture, which makes the shoe fit in more with synthetic ones. While I love my Rothy shoes, the fabric is more plastic-y because it is made of recycled water bottles. I like that my Allbirds are soft to the touch and feel more like fabric. I also love that they can easily be put in the washing machine to clean (and to get rid of any foot smells)!
What Could Be Improved
Like I mention in most of my reviews, I think the price of these flats is on the higher end. A pair of Tree Breezers will cost $98. This is cheaper than my Rothy loafers, but compared to other flats on the market it can be high. Especially if you purchased cheap flats in the past, it can seem like a big jump to go from spending $20-30 to $100. But, I do suggest you still consider these shoes. The company is truly centered on sustainability – it is good to vote with your dollars to support companies that share your same values!
The last thing I want to say in this review is that I notice these shoes make a weird squishing sound when you first start to wear them. I’m not sure if this is because it is getting used to your feet or what… But it is pretty annoying for your feet to make weird noises when you are walking around your place of work. This doesn’t happen much anymore, but it will happen sometimes. I wonder if wearing no-show socks would help… But for now I just walk carefully and hope they keep quiet! 😆
Final Thoughts on my Allbirds Flats!
That concludes my Allbirds flats review. Overall, I love my Tree Breezer flats! Probably not as much as my Rothy’s loafers, but I still wear them to work often. The company is incredibly sustainable, and I love how comfortable the shoes are. While the price can seem high, I think they are worth it in the end. I’ve been wearing the same running shoes for years now; once they rip out, I might just have to test out some Allbirds shoes next! I’ll keep you all updated if this is the case and, of course, write another review for you all. Have you tried out Allbirds shoes before? Comment below and let me know if you recommend their sneakers!
Love,
Jenna ♥
They look beautiful and I love that they can be thrown into the washing machine as well. That is definitely really convenient. I always appreciate your honest and balanced reviews!
