The BEST (And My Favorite) Salad Add-ins!

Hey earth muffins! As many of you know, I have been on a plant based diet for many years now. One of my favorite (incredibly stereotypical) meals is a big bowl of salad… So I’ve perfected a list of the absolute tastiest salad add ins for you all today. 🥗 Let’s jump into the numerous ways to spice up your salads!

1. Nuts

Throwing some raw nuts on top of a salad gives you an extra bit of protein… And some extra crunch too! I have tossed in everything from sliced almonds to whole cashews. You could even try different seeds or toasted nuts as well.

2. Cheese

Who doesn’t love cheese in a salad? Shredded cheese, clumps of feta, or even some shaved parmesan are perfect additions to any salad.

3. Craisins

If your salad has a sugary dressing, a tart craisin is a super tasty addition. I honestly like them in most salads regardless if it is sugar forward or not.

4. Pickled red onions

One of my favorite toppings is a delicious pickled red onion, which can easily be made with only a few ingredients. Adds an extra splash of acid that takes your salad over the edge!

5. Tortilla bits/crunchy stuff

An additional texture is always a good idea when it comes to food (just ask any judge on Food Network!). Crispy tortilla bits, French onion chips, and even pretzels are a great way to break up the vegetables of your salad.

6. Spices

Don’t be afraid to throw a little spice onto your salad greens. One of my favorite salad add ins is just simply salt and pepper. 😍

Being on a plant based diet doesn’t mean you have to order salad at every restaurant. However, sometimes a huge salad is just what I crave. Adding some funky toppings is the perfect way to keep salads interesting and tasty. What are your favorite things to add into salads? Comment below and let me know what I’m missing off this list!
