Winging It Waste Free: A Zerra & Co Eyeliner Review

Hey earth muffins! I am a huge fan of Zerra & Co’s eco-friendly makeup products. In the past, I’ve reviewed their zero waste mascara and eyeshadow… And it’s time for another review today! Along with these products, I’ve also been using the Zerra & Co eyeliner for the past few months. There is plenty to say about this low waste makeup, so keep reading for a full review!

What I Love About This Eyeliner

The first thing I adore about this eyeliner is the fact that it is truly sustainable. This company lives and breathes their sustainability values (which I fully support!). The eyeliner comes in a little glass jar with a metal top. They even give you an option to get it with a bamboo eyeliner brush or to avoid the brush and just use one you already have. After you use up the product, you can either reuse the jar (perhaps for another makeup product) or participate in Zerra’s container return program. Such a great zero waste brand!

In addition, this eyeliner works great and is easy to apply. It starts as a liquid but dries surprisingly fast on the lid. The pigmentation is great; but, you can definitely layer it if you want a darker look. On a daily basis I’ll either put on one swipe of this before my mascara or do a pop of color with Lush’s blue eyeliner.

Another great feature of the Zerra & Co eyeliner is that it is made of vegan ingredients. It is important to always be more mindful of what goes into your makeup, as you often apply it to your skin every day. Being made of cleaner, vegan ingredients is always a positive. It also will last you a long time since it is water based (and a little goes a long way).

In terms of pricing, this eyeliner is only a bit more expensive than drugstore eyeliner… And very comparable to higher end brands. A jar is only $13.99, which is totally reasonable for such an eco-friendly product. Definitely a plus in my book!

What Could Be Improved

Because the eyeliner is water based, it can separate a bit. This isn’t a huge deal, but it works much better on the lid if it is mixed properly. An easy way to fix this is to just shake the jar before you open/use it each morning.

Lastly, because it is water based, this eyeliner isn’t waterproof. It isn’t advertised as waterproof (and some people might prefer non-waterproof anyways) but I thought I should mention it in this review. I personally like that it isn’t waterproof as it comes off easily in the shower without me needing to use single-use makeup wipes or remover.

Overall, I have been really impressed with all the makeup I’ve tried from Zerra & Co. I use this eyeliner on a daily basis and still love it! The company strives to truly provide zero waste makeup at an affordable price – I’ll definitely be trying out more products from them in the future! Have you tried anything from Zerra & Co yet??

Love,
