bookmark_borderIs the Zerra & Co Zero Waste Mascara Worth It?

Hey earth muffins! I recently decided to purchase some zero waste makeup from Zerra & Co. Most of my sustainable makeup products were getting old, so I wanted to try out some new ones… Zerra & Co makes a zero waste mascara, so I knew I just had to give it a try and share my thoughts with you all. Let’s jump right into it!

What I Love About This Zero Waste Mascara

The first thing I love about this product is that it is sustainable and truly zero waste. The container is a glass vial with a metal lid, with the option to get a bamboo wand. So awesome that you can reuse the container and/or recycle it when the product is gone! Not only is the mascara in sustainable packaging, it was also shipped in reused cardboard boxes with fully recyclable packing materials.

bookmark_borderCleanO2 Soap Review: A Revolutionary Carbon Capture Product

Hey earth muffins! Looking for an easy way to cut waste in the bathroom? Simple – start using bar soap instead of body wash! I talk a lot about shampoo bars on this blog, but I thought it would be fun to review the latest soap I’ve been trying out. This was kindly sent over to me by CleanO2… And I really love it (but let’s not spoil the rest of this post!). Here are my thoughts on the revolutionary CleanO2 soaps.

A CleanO2 bar soap - soap made with carbon captured

What I Love About CleanO2

For starters, this soap is made using an awesome carbon capture process. The founders of the company created the CarbinX, which captures carbon dioxide emissions from building heating systems. The result of this process is non-toxic pearl ash/potassium carbonate… Which is then upcycled into their soaps! I love that a bar of soap can be a part of this circular economy. A huge win for sustainability and the planet.

bookmark_borderSeanik Lush Shampoo Bar Review: What I Love About It!

Hey earth muffins! It has been a little bit since I shared a shampoo bar review…. So let’s fix that! 😍 I’ve almost tried every single Lush shampoo at this point, so I figured I would continue my tradition of sharing what I think about the one I’m currently trying out. With the promise of giving you big, beachy hair, is the Seanik bar worth it??

What I Love About Seanik

In terms of sustainability, bars are always better than bottles. I love using shampoo bars because you can avoid all packaging waste. Not having a hideous, brightly-colored plastic bottle in your shower is also a huge win. The bar is made of condensed materials, which means it lasts much longer than liquid shampoo because it hasn’t been diluted by water.

Hey earth muffins! Today I’m coming at you with another shampoo bar review… It seems like I’ve been reviewing these a lot lately but it’s just because I like to try new ones whenever one is used up. πŸ˜€ I picked up this bar from my local zero waste store (something I am so lucky to have nearby!). It is by the brand Tiani Body Care, which is a Michigan company based out of a town near Ann Arbor. Let’s jump right into my Tiani shampoo bar review!

What I Love About This Shampoo Bar

As I mention in all my shampoo bar reviews, I love that this product is naked and creates no packaging waste. I picked it up from the shelf and took it home in my reusable bag – no plastic needed! Bar products look much better in my shower too, which is why I prefer bars to bottles. This product is shaped like an octagon instead of a circle like the bars from Lush. I personally love that it has a flat bottom, as it helps them stand up in my Ethique soap saver container (affiliate link). Plus, the bar is thicker too which makes it easier to hold onto when I am washing my hair.

bookmark_borderReview: Lush “New” Shampoo Bar!

Hey earth muffins! When I was writing my latest review of the American Cream pressed conditioner bar, I realized that I haven’t written a post about the latest shampoo I’ve been trying. So, I figured now was the time to share my thoughts on Lush’s “New” shampoo! The bar is almost gone, and I am thinking about trying some new brands next. I’ve tried out a bunch of Lush shampoo bars over the past few years. I have enjoyed all of them, but I don’t have a Lush near me anymore. There is a store nearby that sells a bunch of sustainable products, so I think I will be shopping there next. 😊 Fingers crossed I can find other brands I like while shopping local! Without further ado, let’s jump into the Lush “New” shampoo bar review.

What I Love About This Shampoo Bar

Now that I’ve swapped from plastic shampoo bottles to shampoo bars, I will NEVER go back. Bar products are awesome because they are eco-friendly and reduce the need for any packaging. Check out my other reasons for choosing bar bathroom products! This Lush shampoo bar is just like the other bars I’ve tried from them – sustainable and awesomely packaged in absolutely nothing. 😍 I like that the bars are round and easy to travel with too!

bookmark_borderAmerican Cream Lush Review: A Sustainable Conditioner Bar!

Hey earth muffins! Whenever I try out eco-friendly products, I always try to share a review on this blog. I hope they are helpful in sharing hits and misses in the growing sustainable products market! 😊 I have tested out multiple shampoo bars ever since I made the switch from plastic bottles to bar products in the shower… But, I have never shared my thoughts on conditioner bars – until today! When winter started, my hair was feeling a bit dry. I had to reorder shampoo bars from Lush, so I figured I would try out a conditioner bar as well. Let’s jump right into my American Cream Lush review!

What I Love About the Conditioner Bar

As I’ve mentioned in all my past shampoo bar reviews, I love that these products cut out any plastic packaging. Plastic is not only bad for the environment but the hideously colored bottles never fit the vibe I’m going for in my minimalist bathroom. The naked bar looks much nicer in my shower! While the product still had to be shipped to me, you could always hit up a Lush store if you have one in your area. Unfortunately, I no longer have a Lush near me. To save on shipping emissions, just make sure you order a huge haul of bar products so that you will be stocked for a long time. πŸ™ƒ

bookmark_borderA Hey Humans Plastic-Free Deodorant Review

Hey earth muffins! In my recent 8 Eco-Friendly Products You Can Find at Target post, I mentioned that they carry a wide selection of plastic-free deodorants. I have tried and reviewed the Native deodorant, so once that ran out I thought it was the perfect time to try another plastic-free deodorant on the market. 😊 I’ve absolutely loved the Hey Humans toothpaste that comes in an aluminum tube… So I was hopeful I would find success with their sustainable deodorant as well. Let’s jump right into my Hey Humans deodorant review!

What I LOVE About Hey Humans Plastic-Free Deodorant

Obviously I love that this deodorant is plastic-free. From the time I started my eco-friendly journey, I have tried deodorants that came in anything from jars to tubes… And I think plastic-free tubes are the easiest to apply! Especially if you are new to the sustainability sphere, the design of this deodorant is not too far off from what you would be used to using. I try my hardest to support brands that are truly planet friendly; I love that Hey Humans has only plastic-free containers for their deos. Add on that they use aluminum tubes for their toothpaste and you can’t go wrong!

bookmark_borderWhich is Better: Reusable Pads vs Menstrual Cups?

Hey earth muffins! 2021, for me, was the year of trying out different ways to zero waste my period. While I haven’t tried all the methods to have a zero waste period, I focused my time on menstrual cups and reusable menstrual pads. These are some of the most popular options when it comes to making your time of the month more sustainable. So, which do I prefer? πŸ€” In today’s post, I will be sharing my thoughts on reusable pads vs menstrual cups… Let’s jump right into it!

Why Reusable Pads Are Better

The first thing that makes reusable pads better is that they aren’t as invasive as menstrual cups. One of the major concerns I had when trying out a cup was that it required me to insert it and remove it… Which can be pretty terrifying at first! Once you get the hang of it it isn’t scary anymore; check out my tips on how to insert and remove a menstrual cup if you still struggle! Overall, reusable pads are way less invasive even when you get the hang of cups.
